A workshop was conducted by Mr. S C Joshi, Head Learning Resource Center, AIS for middle and high school teachers in AIS on May 11’ 2013. Around seventy teachers of middle and senior school, from all subject areas, have participated in the workshop.
Objective of the workshop was to discuss how to connect classroom teaching with real life experiences through activity based learning which arrests declining interest of young learners towards science and value based learning both. It was also discussed that inquiry – based scientific temperament should also be nurtured in the students so that they can pursue research on science specific subjects at higher level. Encouraging students towards designing and developing certain models incorporating their experiences and sharing it with the large community of educators in the world was an important point of discussion in the workshop.
Teacher participants were able to involve themselves in several activities like writing the terms evolved, designing questions based on the demonstration and attempting for a questionnaire. All of them have participated in verity of modes of communications and acted as assertive communicator leaders. The responses are very encouraging and teacher learners are expecting to have more such workshops in near future.
