Presentation on American culture, Distinguish Award in Teaching - 2012 & International Traditional Games Conference - 2013 by S C Joshi

Date July 06’ 13
Venue: Auditorium AIS

Got the opportunity to give a presentation on ‘Sharing American Culture & Education system, Capstone Project & its outcomes during DAT – 2012, and International Traditional Native Games Conference – 2013. It was all about sharing American culture and my capstone project during DAT grant in US with my colleagues in my home school i. e. Ahlcon International School.  I have also shared my experience of attending ‘International Conference on American Native Games – 2013’ from June 26 – 29th June 2013.

ICT Workshop on July 06' 13
Venue: IT Lab
The workshop began on a warm note with the ICT Resource person welcoming the core group after a long break. The lead question tabled was, “How we are taking this program?” The team was involved in a review of the preceding sessions, certain queries were answered that cleared the webs around the road map of the ICT program.
It was rightly expressed by the resource person Mr. Joshi that we need to document all proceedings and efforts made by the group to take the program further and notify each other via mails also. The team was reminded of certain tasks that had been assigned during the holidays. A number of brain compatible ICT tools were shared with the team and each member was assigned the task of trying, experimenting and preparing presentations, using the two ICT tools mentioned in the mail. The purpose of assigning two tools to two teachers was they would be able to exchange ideas and make it happen through collaborative learning. These included Toon doo, Slide share, Screenr, survey monkey and a few others. The team was also to shortlist at least 10 topics from their subjects (streams) which are generally considered “difficult” by the students and need extra efforts on the part of the teacher.
Such topics would be converted into brain compatible ICT supported lesson plans as a part of Value stream of the ‘ICT leadership program’ which will facilitate the teaching learning process further. Towards the end of the hour long discussion, Mr. Joshi shared the usage of a few ICT tools including Screenr by showing his self-developed video on Doppler’s effect in screenr. Nonetheless some concerns were raised by the team members about the infrastructural support needed for the realization of such idealistic dreams of making the teaching learning process completely supported by ICT. We all are looking forward to learn and practice these ICT based sustainable lesson plans.
